An enormous amount of information about the Nickel Plate Railroad is posted on line. However, reading the information in online forums is like watching leaves float downstream on a river, never to be seen again. The purpose of this Wiki is to capture that useful information that is posted so that it is available in perpetuity.

The Wiki provides several advantages over other tools:

1. It can be edited and added to in small pieces over time

2. It can be edited by and added to by any authorized person (this means you)

3. It can contain intermixed text, images, tables, and diagrams

4. Upon request, it will notify you of changes

5. The entire Wiki can be searched by its contents

6. Content, including images, can have searchable text keywords added to it, called "tags"

The goal is that a community of several (or several dozen) interested participants will form around the Wiki, working to keep it complete. With a large enough community, the work will be relatively easy, and the results will be spectacular.
